"The first take of 'Revolution' left George and Paul resentful," Lennon recalled. "They felt it wasn't fast enough."
This initial version, 'Revolution 1', made it onto the White Album alongside the experimental 'Revolution 9'. However, the band had no intention of releasing it as a single.
"As a hit record, it might have worked," Lennon conceded. "But The Beatles could have afforded to take that risk."
He continued, "The issue was my renewed creativity and dominance, which upset the balance."
Ultimately, a faster version of 'Revolution' was released as the B-side to 'Hey Jude', a decision that seemed to favor Paul McCartney's vision.
