Lee, a close friend of Isaac Humphries, the first openly gay male player in the NBL, advocates for a middle ground. Humphries, now with the Adelaide 36ers, became the second openly gay male in any top-tier basketball league worldwide in 2022. Lee believes that forcing players to wear the rainbow flag undermines the purpose of Pride rounds, which is to foster open dialogue and acceptance.

AJ Ogilvy, a former NBL player, expressed happiness with the growing engagement with Pride Round, stating that it creates a safe space for conversations and acceptance. Ogilvy played for the Sydney Kings and Illawarra Hawks, highlighting the league's commitment to inclusivity.
